The Revelation We Were Never Prepared For
In the wake of Charlie Kirkโs assassination, many are questioning their faith, wondering why there is so much cruelty in the world. Itโs obvious to most that something was lost, more than just a friend and iconic conservative figure.
A friend of mine said this:
โThe way things are heading is incredibly concerning. I feel like weโve lost something yesterday, I donโt know what yet but itโs not good.โ
The sense of hopelessness is high right now. And thatโs what the enemy wants.
Leftists everywhere were celebrating like ancient savages before the flames of virgin sacrifices. The immensity, extravagance, and pure disregard for human life were both shocking and appalling, even if predictable.
Yet, in the madness lies an answer to the pervading question: What we lost yesterday in the death of Charlie Kirk was the illusion of safety.
Western luxuries have made us susceptible to a laziness like no other. Since America has been the greatest, richest, and most powerful country in history, threats were minimized over time until comfort tricked us into thinking we were invincible.
The most easily duped were unfortunately Christians. Instead of heeding the warnings in Scripture that the world would become more dangerous and vile, we allowed prosperity phonies to tickle our ears with enticements of divine providence at every turn. We thought ourselves immune to evil and death because the Great Provider in the sky had our backs and wouldnโt let us strike our foot against a stone. Wouldnโt permit our enemies any victory, even if short-lived.
But that is nowhere in Scripture, and we all know it. The promise from Christโs own lips was, โAs the world has hated me, so it will hate you.โ
Charlieโs murder is so potent because it exposed our folly. When some random churches get attacked by shooters, itโs easy to say, โThey were targeted because of their faithโ but then later dismiss the events as โWell, that guy was just crazy.โ
But when a public figure who has changed many lives and started what can be described as no less than a revolution through mere conversation, speaking truth and spreading Christian faith while lifting no finger against his enemies, is suddenly gunned down, eyes start to open. Something is not right.
Another friend thinks itโs too soon to say Charlie was killed for his Christian faith. He says:
โI think, until the killer is caught (they've most likely killed themselves, if they haven't already) we won't know the true motive. Could be trans, could be some hyper pro BLM supporter, could be an Islamic extremist due Charlie's support for Israel. Might just be some anti-trump leftie.
His views were undergirded by his Christian faith, but with so many potential enemies, it's hard to tell what specifically he said that led to his death.โ
The issue is that trans, BLM, and Islamic extremists all have the same thing in common: They hate truth, and they hate Christians. Every one of their movements and other movements like them move in tandem against Christianity and always have.
Itโs fortuitous that Charlieโs death occurred the day before 9/11. That is the only other day in recent American history where the illusion was broken before.
Whether you believe the destruction of the Twin Towers was a CIA op or a legitimate attack from Islamic extremists doesnโt matter. What matters is on this day in 2001 America was hit by a massive tragedy no one saw coming because we let our guard down, trusted that everything was fine despite there being monsters in the world.
And everyone understood the real target was Christianity. A movement of faith like no other spread across the country during that time. We prayed and fought hard, knowing that the root of the problem was spiritual. America was a symbol of the ongoing cosmic war being waged since the dawn of time.
Our resolve went on for a while, but then we fell back into the same comforts, the same luxuries, the same familiarities that made us defenseless before. Until yesterday.
Now, we can no longer lie to ourselves. The devils are inside the city gates, and they care less about who lives and dies as long as everyone abandons Christ and bows to the spirit of the age. Casualties are stepping stones toward the total annihilation of their opponents, you, and they rejoice in blood.
The only way the monsters win is if you join them. If you surrender your humanity to become mindless animals like them. And thatโs why you must resist at all costs.
God isnโt our slave. Heโs not there to perform magic tricks at our behest, to make reality how we want it. You may not understand now why God allowed such a horrific death to befall Charlie, but your inability to comprehend doesnโt render God powerless. He remains sovereign over all.
And meaning is already being revealed behind the tragedy. Like the Apostles and other Christians who suffered and died for their faith, Charlieโs impact has increased a thousandfold since yesterday. Countless trapped in inertia by the illusion of safety are finally waking up to the spiritual dangers at every level of existence.
You donโt have to like it. I certainly donโt. And there are no words that will bring comfort. Grief isnโt going anywhere anytime soon. But perhaps thatโs exactly what we need. To mourn, to process, and to come together against what is destroying our great nation and sending millions to hell.
The way forward was spelled out for us by the Apostle Paul ages ago, โBe watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.โ Thatโs the bedrock of courage, the virtue undergirding all others. Without it, we go nowhere, sitting like sheep while the wolves devour us whole.
As Christians, we are salt and light. They hate us, want us dead, but our Savior conquered death. There is nothing they can do to us but send us home. So speak loud, speak clear, and spread the Gospel far and wide. Make your Father proud. And may hell celebrate one day when you too are out of the fight.
